A peerless artist
Dear readers,
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Who has never heard this name ?
It is more common to use it for the genius or talent than for the man who had born it.
Born in 1756 in Salzburg, Austria, this pianist and violonist of genius has left a legacy of 626 compositions (he created his first symphony at the age of 6), and this in spite of a hasty departure – he died when he was 35. As a genuine virtuoso, he mastered all musical genres. His inspiration seemed untamed.
Mozart was a genius of two faces. One of them manifested a joyful and careless child, who would surrender to his creativity, endlessly falling in love and having projects, both insane and spectacular. On the other side, there was a desperate artist daunted by his loneliness and misunderstanding of people whom he judged not smart enough to be able to understand his art and genius.
Mozart and France
From June 20th to September 24 2017, we will enjoy the opportunity to discover an exhibition named « Mozart, a French passion » at Bibliothèque Nationale de France (the French National Library) that will unveil the richness and the variety of the collections preserved at the Library and at the Paris Opera.
Will be displayed the most important of Mozart’s writings but also costume and scenery sketches ordered by the artist himself in order to stage his compositions.
Mozart had an ambivalent relationship with France but he remains the most played compositor at the Paris Opera. Indeed, he succeeded in conquering the heart of the French bourgeoisie from the 18th century thanks to his work efforts, his self-denial and his mastery of the most complex musical genres and instruments.
The largest audiences would admire his performances and give in to his melodies.
My dear readers, Mozart once said « True genius without heart is a thing of nought – for neither a lofty degree of intelligence nor imagination nor both together go to the making of genius. Love, love, love, that is the soul of genius. »
See you soon !
