Digital Arts Center
My dear readers,
I made a surprising and unexpected discovery a short time ago that I want to share with you today!
Just yesterday, I wandered through the streets of the 11th district without a goal, just for the sake of exploring and I discovered rue Saint-Maur, the Atelier des Lumières!
The Atelier des Lumières is a Digital Arts Center that opened on April. Housed in an old foundry of the nineteenth, the place is totally immersed by projections of paintings on concrete facades.
During the year, the Workshop will offer immersive exhibitions, as we rarely see! Artistic programming will invite you, my kind readers, to live a colorful journey in the heart of luminous and contemporary works.
It was a unique moment that I was able to experience during the discovery of this place, the works magically dress a huge space, I was literally overwhelmed by the beauty that was offered to me. This very modern way of approaching the work gives a second life to the works.
Today, you can experience an immersive journey around the major representatives of the Viennese art scene, including the famous painter Gustav Klimt!
Gold Leaf
Do you know, my dear readers, Gustave Klimt? At the beginning of the 20th century, the Austrian artist was considered as an essential painter of the Viennese scene.
Gustav Klimt left behind him an enigmatic and mysterious work. Among the 220 canvases known to the painter are his portraits of women gilded with fine gold, both magical and disturbing.
One of the best known works of the Austrian painter is called The Kiss. Created during the Golden Cycle, The Kiss is established as a masterpiece by many art historians. The painting represents a man who kisses a woman on the cheek, it is an oil on canvas covered with gold leaves.
Inspired by the Byzantine mosaics he discovered during his travels, Klimt decorated his paintings with gold leaf mixed with paint, to create what would become his signature!
See you soon!
